Heavy Words was a five-days workshop held in 2019 focused on the social responsibility of Communication Design in the context of Gender Cultures.
Starting from the issue of gender-based verbal violence in the university environment we designed a communication campaign to support the actions of denunciation of the observed phenomena.
The design process started from a deep analysis of real testimony collected by the dcxcg group in the context of university informal environments.

The designed artifacts cover the deep-rooted verbal violence surrounding the themes of body shaming, favouritism and alcohol consumption. The graphic solution uses the familiar element of the receipt to highlight how used we are to these expressions adding up almost mathematically in the different contexts and how common they are in our daily life: just like getting another receipt to put in our pocket. The poster format in particular enlarges the design to bring attention to the issue by offering the viewer an uncanny version of a familiar object.
