sòno is an experimental area, a speculative and interactive project that allows the user to explore the idea of Limit, in its typically human variation of Personal Space.
In the performative installation the personal space of each participant is translated in sound and the interactions with other users generate new sound combinations according to their interpersonal distance and spatial orientation.
The temporal evolution of the experience can also be interpreted via a live visualization that translates movement and sound pulsation in video projection.
The project has been developed in 2018 during the Final Studio of the BSc Communication Design course at Politecnico di Milano, using position detection and tracking techniques, ad hoc recorded sounds, and carefully designed visualizations and communication artifacts.
sòno has been introduced to the public at WMHH? exhibition event.
