With the project METI we designed an AI-based system for waste management in the city of Milan. We started with a deep and wide desk research on the issues in the field and then considered the real scenario of the company AMSA with which we kept in touch during the whole process, learning from their expertise during the development and getting their feedback at the end of the project.
In the design of the system we considered both front-end and back-end touchpoints. We went into the details of sensors and computational tools needed to collect and analyse data, while simultaneously evaluating the feasibility of the project by calculating energy consumption and financial viability.

The project METI has been selected to participate at the 2020 FutureLab Exhibition in Shanghai. The project has also been selected for the international award Ro Plastic Prize 2021 by Rossana Orlandi for the category of Responsible Innovation Projects, and exhibited at Museo Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milano.
